Issue with USB 3.0 port on Lenovo X1 Carbon 3444 -BDU

2016-02-16, 23:03 PM

I was recently given a Lenovo X1 Carbon and it has Windows 10 version 1511 (OS Build 10586.104). The USB port on the right side, which I believe is the 3.0 port doesn't function. When I connect a flash drive to this port, the light on flash drive comes on for couple of seconds and turns of. I am not sure if this is a hardware or a software issue. Here is the screenshot of USB controllers in Device manager. I read previous threads with similar issues, but did not find a solution. (I tried to unisntall device drivers, restart and re-install the drivers. It did not help)

The USB port on the right is on a separate audio card. I have seen them fail. I would first examine the port and look for bent pins

I Just inspected both the ports. They look similar, nothing out of place.

Which gen us your laptop? My gen 3 has both USB on a daughter board since I have opened and saw both my USB ports are on their own board so if you got 3Rd Gen aswell then it will have as mine, about issue what sort of USB device is it? Like is it a USB 1, 2 or 3 device? If usb 3 make sure USB 3.0 drivers are installed and make sure USB 3.0 isn't disabled in bios.

I tried with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices. I did try uninstalling the usb device drivers and installing them again. I did not find any USB 3.0 drivers for windows 10 64 bit. Could this be the reason?
