Kensington SD4700P Dock - Frequent USB C When Battery at Full Capacity

2019-07-07, 5:08 AM

I purchased a Carbon X1 6th Gen recently and also purchased a Kensington SD4700P dock.  The Kensington dock was chosen over a Lenovo dock becuase it supports both Mac and PC.  When connected to a Mac there are no problems whatsoever but when connected to a Carbon X1 the USB-C connection drops frequently.  The drops only occur when the battery has reached 100% charge.  The docks delivers power, mouse, keyboard, display, and audio through a single USB-C cable.  I suspect that when the laptop reaches 100% it cuts off the power being delivered from the dock which in turn momentarily interrupts the data communication that supports mouse, keyboard, video, etc.  If I keep the USB-C cable connected at this point, it will continue to experience drops every few minutes as it calls for power and then cuts off power from the dock.  Is there any way to configure the USB-C ports to stop power without interrupting data transmission? Any other suggestions?
