Laptop HDD not working in external case

2018-09-07, 5:29 AM

I took out internal hard disk 500gb from Lenovo x220 and replaced it with ssd. Now I wanted to use this hdd in external case. I bought usb 3.0 external case and fitted it in it. But, it shows error whenever I use it. First it shows uninitialized.

Initialize Disk

I tried to initialize it:

Initialize GPT

but, an error saying the request could not be completed because of an I/O device error.

Now i tried to use AOMEI Partition Asssitant GUI to initiliaze:

OK

but its not working. Showing I/O Error.

I took this hdd out of case and used it back inside laptop, it is working there perfectly.  I tried using it with 2-3 external cases but its same issue. What could be problem? Can't se use lenovo OEM HDDs with external cases?
