I'm having a problem that is becoming more and more frequent. Usually, when you leave your laptop alone for long enough the screen will turn off and the laptop will go to sleep. I definitely know it's sleeping because the green power button will be doing the slowly dim and undim thing.
However, I've been having an issue where my laptop's screen will go black, but the computer won't go to sleep. It's like stuck in a limbo before the computer goes to sleep and the screen is black but won't go fully to sleep. I know this because the green light stays on like it's on. But when I move the mouse or type anything, nothing happens. It's perpetually stuck in this state where the screen is dark and nothing will shake it out of this state. If I close the lid, the laptop stays in this state until it runs out of battery.
My only solution is to do a hard shutdown by holding down the power button.
I'm not sure how to correctly phrase my qustion, and thus, I can't really find any topics that seem to have the same problem.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a solution for this?
My laptop is a X1 Carbon Thinkpad and I've had for around a year and half.
