@JoschiC It would be very kind of you to test an RME device with your friend if it's possible. Thanks for the precisions too ! My music stores are Thomann and Digitalaudioservice, in your country !

@TKMusic1 Except the video card, the X1 extreme Gen2 and the P53 are very similar, aren't they ? Same chipset I presume. They might work both.

Kind regards.

Check out this one...

It's for free and there are many great suggestions how to optimize your windows for audio productions...

It helped me a lot!

the p53 has more options to add memory and ssds...and the p53 has more usb connectors.

The main difference between them is the mainboard. The P53s mainboard is more for professionals compared to the x1 extreme gen2.

Overall the Chipset/Mainboard drivers - like the acpi driver, have a better performance as the drivers of the x1 extreme gen 2.

Buuuuut I love my X1 extreme because it's thinner and lighter and as I have mentioned, when you read the book glitchfree and if you use it you can have a quite stable system....

Best regards...

Re: Latency issues with new X1 Extreme Gen2

Hello. New to this forum but in a similar situation using Ableton with a X1 extreme g2. My latency figures arn't great but not horrible either, DPC latency stable around 1300 us (no spikes). But I had LOT of issues with audio dropping out in Ableton. Primary solution was to disable as much at autostart as possible (Adobe CC was terrible having in the background). Only issue is that I cant run Abletone and Chrome simultaneously, then I get terrible dropouts.

Im using ASIO4ALL at the moment, mostlyfor trying out before getting a proper audio interface.

I'm actually at a buffer size at 1024 sometimes 2048... without internet connection. That's fine for working (mixing), no glitches, but for having records it is teribble because of the latency :(

I think there are also a lot difference between several interfaces..

My elektron digitakt interface makes spikes and glitches much ealier in a project than my apogee one interface...

I'm working with studio one and ableton live btw...

what kind of interface do you use at what buffersize`?

Re:Latency issues with new X1 Extreme Gen2

I have the same "acpi.sys" issues... after changing the system settings ("glitchfree") the improvement was significant but still popping up, when the time period is more than 5 minutes. Please Lenovo have a look at that. Seems that some drivers from the mainboard / Thunderbolt 3 controller / Battery Controllers are not properly working (in the context of audio DAW application)

Regarding the Audio Interface:
USB Interfaces (RME Babyface) and Allen & Heath Xone 96 (both Asio) are working smooth and are more or less stable.

TB3 Interface UAD Apollo X6 is working not properly... (with lower than 1024 samples)

Generally you should switch off all wireless functionalities (WiFi, Bluetooth etc.) before running your DAW application. Stop running the windows defender in the background before your are using your DAW. Close all Webbrowsers 2.

If you are looking for an inteface I would recommand RME  - imo their drivers are more "solid" compared 2 the UAD environment.

Unfortunately now the bad news - since a few weeks I received use the brandnew macbook pro 16 for testing the Latency behaviour from the UAD Apollo X6 ( an setting up the UAD firmware update... geeks know what I mean) my DAW (FL Studio) works supersmooth an without no glitches with 128 sample (!), running a project with 4 u-he Divas at the same time (CPU Usage MBP 28%, Lenovo 36%. ). So I did probably a big mistake buying the Lenovo X1 e gen2 for using it in my bedroom studion... my fault and probably not a Lenovo issue. Due to the fact, that de MBP 16 is very expensive, I still hope, that Lenovo could improove the acpi.sys behaviour at least a little bit.

BIOS 1.30 Update: ACPI behaviour strongly improoved - dont ask my why, but it seems, that the problems have been resolved. Thx Lenovo! And the first test with my old RME Babyface was really strong - no pops and crackles in a "medium" Project in FL Studio (20.6) with (1024 Samples; 22ms - 3 Diva's, 2 Sylenths, 2 Sytrus tracks and a bunch of percussion running the same time)

If now my UAD TB3 Interface (in my bedroom studio) does not work fine, it may also be UAD Driver in combination with TB3-Driver.

I had this problem with my X1C6, tried changing various USB Interface from Focusrite to no avail.

The solution is to disable CPU Power Management feature from the BIOS. You will not have any more issues and the soundcard should work perfectly with no pops, glitches or latency issues.
