This is a Lenovo problem reporting thread, not a thread to convince others to switch to Apple.

I am just making a objective comparison so Lenovo can get their act together and care about their customers more. Specially the ones who spent USD 3.000 on a computer.

as someone who switched to a Thinkpad from a Macbook because of the keyboard issues, i can say this: Apple may be in control of Drivers but has Support Problems in other ways even when they are in full control, fixes for specific Problems can take a very long time, and in my experience workarounds often don't exist or are harder in the Apple Ecosystem (try getting an old graphics driver to work in catalina), i think this is not about having control over something but the willingness to solve Problems for the customers. I'm pretty sure Lenovo and Intel Technicians can work together on a problem like this if necessary and they wanted to, often the Problem is to get an Issue to a ressource inside the comany who actually understands the bug and can coordinate a fix for it.

Again the driver was updated without my permission.

I asume this is a very urgent driver. So, it makes me think that Lenovo should fix this ASAP.

I'm surprised there's not more people with the same problem.  Well..also surprised by Lenovo's lack of response.

Re:Latest Intel Graphics Driver Makes Display Dim

X1E Gen2 - Have noticed that on AC power the display is not anywhere near the 500nits brightness advertised -- have installed the lenovo approved display drivers, also tried the latest no approved drivers from intel -- both are showing maximum brightness that is very lacklustre.

I've turned on everything within windows to high performance, gone into intel command centre and made sure running in 'maximum performance' -- the only way i can increase brightness is by turning on HDR -- but then i get a horrible red hueue over the screen and is just unusable for colour accurate results that i needed this laptop for.

I have noticed when viewing dark screens, such as using photoshop with a dark user interface then switching to a web browser / primarily white background you can see the display visibly adjust brightness significantly to ramping up brightness on white (still very dull, but noticeable) to very dark on the dark interface -- makes photo editing almost annoying impossible to do

I've turned all adaptive brightness off, all performance settings in power & sleep settings to maximum performance, tried running ultimate performance power plan, etc etc etc -- there is an issue with the display drivers or something. When i put the laptop brightness to full i want full brightness, not this dull experience thats fluctuating brightness depending on whats on the screen.

Horrible experience with this laptop and lenovo....can we get some sort of acknowledgement from Lenovo on this or provide anything to get the ball rolling with yet another problem with these laptops and yet another issue -- i dont want this dragging on for the next 6 months like the blasted keyboard missing keystrokes issue.....

For the X1EG2 owners, I have the older december 2019 Intel VGA driver, that works okay with the brightness.

I can send it to you in a DM. Please contact me.

Installed these drivers and maximum brightness has been restored to what it should be!

Now ... Lenovo.....Lenovo Moderators, Lenovo Admins -- SOMEONE -- pass this along to programmers to relook at their work because the newest drivers are not configured right.
