Lenovo Carbon X1 Carbon Gen 7 speakers slowly go quiet

2020-06-27, 12:37 PM

It occurs when I play media from applications like Spotify or Chrome. The sound on the right side speaker will slowly fade until it becomes very quiet though still noticeable. I've turned off Dolby and opened up the Realtek control panel to test the right speaker and got a same quiet test sound, which means that something is trying to suppress the sound a couple seconds after any audio playback.

On rare occasions both speakers will become extremely quiet on playback.

I can turn off playback for a couple minutes and then play audio, which will reproduce the fading sound issue.

Please advise.

I have not heard of any tweeter fade phenomenon with the X1C7 speakers, but we have had a few threads where the details of the way the X1C7 up-firing tweeters and down-firing drivers work has helped explain what was being observed. Here's the most succinct explanation. Same applies to X1C8.

Hope this helps!
