Re: Lenovo Display Optimizer installation not possible / Thinkpad X1 Yoga 3rd gen

I'm still investigating Display Optimizer problem, for now just use my setup.exe and stop trying to update from Vantage.

Your other question about disabling touchpad.  X1 Yoga 3rd uses precision touchpad which is controlled entirely (and only) by Windows.  So if you want to disable it, you have to use Windows built-in Settings app and not Vantage.  I don't know what other machines you looked at, but older models have legacy touchpad (not precision touchpad) and it can be controlled within Vantage.  Hope this helps.

Thanks the Setup.exe you provided in the link works. The application installs fine. However, I don't think it is behaving as I remember it did. When I change between the different color settings I previously was able to see a visible color changes happen - this time I can't. Any thoughts why?

Update : Rebooted, and it now works perfectly fine.

If you have OLED screen, it changes color profile based on your setting, such as Standard, Photo, Movie, cut blue light for Reading, etc.

This helped me too

I am still researching this problem.  Can someone who had the problem please tell me:

1.  when you purchased your thinkpad (approximate month and year)

2.  if you are using factory preload, or if you installed Win10 yourself

3.  if you ever did any operation like "Reset this PC"

Hi,

You mention that Optimizer is for OLED screen?  The X1 Yoga 3rd gen didnt come with OLED though right?  So what does it do for Non- Oled screens?

I just wanted to ask the same question of green5178. My TP Yoga has not an oled screen but the 500 nits HDR WQHD display.

I bought it in november 2018. I use the preinstalled version of windows 10 but there were several other changes of the hardware.

The Display was changed because of a broken touchscreen and the mainboard and the fingerprint reader were changed because of the fingerprint reader not working.

I also did never use an option like reset this pc.

Sorry, I had forgotten that we expanded support to include UHD screen also (not just OLED).  It functions the same though.  Just different color settings that you can apply.

Hi - In answer to your questions -

1.  when you purchased your thinkpad (approximate month and year)

November 2018

2.  if you are using factory preload, or if you installed Win10 yourself

It was working on the original factory install that I received with the machine. I have since done a fresh install with Win10 myself, downloaded image from Microsoft, then installed all the Lenovo drivers via the support site, this is where I ran into the problem of installing it.

3.  if you ever did any operation like "Reset this PC"

No
