Lenovo Premier Support, **bleep**!

2021-04-15, 21:21 PM

I have brought a docking station (ThinkPad Ultra 40AJ0135EU) to connect a larger display (Think Vision T32h20 61F1GAT2EU) and some others peripherical to study at home. It seems that there’s no compatibility between Lenovo own hardware because I have no image displayed at the external display. I have now 3-day messaging with those "premium" technical but they only advise me about Firmware/BIOS updates and it doesn’t resolve the problem. I have a X1 Yoga 5th Gen. If I buy something "premium" or "premier" I hopping to get something extra. It doesn’t have an added value. I hope that I get early a solution for this issue. Premier service rating 1 star (or less) no worth to any price.

Hi everyone!

Today was calling at the premiere support in USA (not in Germany) the was solve my problem prompt. The issue was the USB C, because the docking station doesn’t translate properly the monitors at this interface. With an HDMI cable was the issue solved!!!

Never call for support at the German support.

Thank you all

Hello villazamo,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

I'm sorry about your experience with Premiere support.

I've checked the accessory list, and it shows that the docking station ThinkPad Ultra 40AJ is compatible with your X1 Yoga 5th Gen.

The monitor, ThinkVision T32H20 is also a good match for your computer.

For multiple or extended display, kindly check this link:
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht004036-how-to-set-up-and-use-multiple-monitors-in-windows

Also, here's the user guide:

Hope this helps

Regards,
Lorenzo_Lenovo

Hi Lorenzo_Lenovo!

Thank you for your fastest reply. I was seen both manuals. The issue that I have no image and the Monitor are not recognized through the docking station (it works only if I connect the monitor directly to the computer (at this way I can configure like at the multiple monitors manual both displays).

Regards, José.

Hello villazamo,

Glad to hear it's working fine now.
Thank you for sharing it here.
I'm sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant experience with the tech support in your region.

Take care

Actually Premier (top tier) on-site support is quite good in our region!

In fact, so good that we have 5-year Premier on-site support for a number of our key machines!

On average over the 5-year timeframe, there's one keyboard replacement, one motherboard replacement.

In every one out of our 2 machines, fan gets replaced too.

So the cost of your premium ThinkPad is justified when it is amortized over this 5-year time frame.

(Hint: Try to future-proof your ThinkPad config when you order, try to max out soldered RAM if it is not user-replaceable, and try to get i7 CPU if possible).

In fact, the average age of our out-of-warranty ThinkPad units are 8 years old, and still respectably useful with Windows 10!

[Edit] Our T410 was recently donated to a needy family for school "Zoom" video classes, in this day/age of COVID 19.

It's still running like a champ! With 16:10 LCD ratio too!! [/Edit]

Normally I was hearing only the best about this in other countries. Maybe the problem is in Germany. I was buying the Premiere Support with the PC.
