Re: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga and other...how to upgrade to the Intel WiGig functions

2017-07-10, 21:51 PM

@delenovo if you read the thread more carefully, you'll notice that, while some of the posts by @Thinkbox are indeed confusing, he actually used 00JT499. There's no way around getting Intel 10041R antenna module if you want (Intel-based) WiGiG to work.

@TripleX1 LCD covers with WiGiG for Dell Broadwell & later notebooks can be found for $30-something + shipping. It's cheaper than any WiGiG docking station, long WiGiG cable & heat shield are included, and the LCD cover can be sold after you remove the WiGiG antenna & cable - unlike a maraudered docking station that becomes completely useless.

Re: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga and other...how to upgrade to the Intel WiGig functions

For all those who would like to try a Wigig upgrade, we wanted to have Wigig function on 3x Lenovo Yoga 1st Gen, so I bought:
- 3x Intel 18260NGW - 3x 10041R antenna - 3x 40 cm antenna cables to put the antenna behind the display. (would be the optimal place) I tried a lot, first had also the error 0x1010 and 0x1100, the first one, I think says that the antenna is not properly connected to the Wifi card, sometimes I got the error, while the antenna is definitve connected,

so i did my trick:
which kinda always helped if i got some unknown errors:
was the Intel Dock Manager Repair (System Control / Program / Remove Intel Dock Manager first select then repair) In the Device Manager, the network card is also incorrectly recognized as 8620, the Wigig function works anyway. I think the order of installation is also important, I first uninstalled all previous drivers, then installed the Bluetooth driver, then the driver for Intel 18620, then Intel Dock Manager. It is also important that under Start / Settings / Network and Internet / Flight mode and there checked if the Wigig function is turned on there (this appears only as soon as Intel card + antenna is built, I think) After the installation and the annoying Intel Dock Manager errors, it runs very well (now I have the antenna in the display on a test basis) here I could connect without problems and make the connection over several meters.

I´m still watching for the optimal Place for the antenna, that i can get the Cover of Laptop closed.

sorry for my bad english :)
