Lenovo Thinkpad X1E Coil Whine

If you have the X1 Extreme I'm just curious as to how often or how audible can you hear the coil whine in laptop? Mine varies for several seconds when I boot it up, when I listen to music sometimes, to long stretches upwards to a minute or two when on idle. The level of sound ranges from time to time but it's generally on the low side. Noticealbe in a slient room but not so much when there's other sources of noise around. I've look around to finding various post where it's pointing to the speaker settings, to undervolting, to just being a common issue in most laptops.

Just curious as if do all Thinkpads X1E have this, does yours, and is there a way to reduce or remove it completely?

I have exactly the same noise of varied loudness just like you described. I just created a post about it so let's if anyone replies: ThinkPad X1 Extreme "Electrical" Noise

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad X1E Coil Whine

Here is a good article abiut the coil whine: What Is Coil Whine, and Can I Get Rid of It on My PC? - How-To Geek. I can only assume that there is no good way to get rid of it completely in this laptop.

Re: Lenovo Thinkpad X1E Coil Whine

I have X1E also and am experiencing the same.  This is the second major issue I'm having with this brand new laptop, with the first being intermittent freezes.

Looks like this system is no good and I'm pretty bummed.
