I can also confirm that the dock works with the X16G after I installed the latest thunderbolt firmware update and bios update.  I also had to manually install NVIDIA's GeForce 1050 driver for Win 10 (version 417.01).

Unistalled / reinstalled the drivers and toggled the Thunderbolt 3 option in BIOS.  Not sure what was the fix but it's working again.  Thank you all!

I use it every day - but it does lock up once in a while.  I need to disconnect and reconnect.

Re:Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Graphics Dock with X16C

Hi Everyone!

Allow me to give some background first, as this post will be much later than thread's last.....

I am:

1- a Lenovo forum noobie;

2- an X1C veteran - I'm typing on an 8-yr old X1C - yep, the original;

3- a Thinkpad user for longer than Lenovo has existed;

3- not a gamer - for some insight, my 1st computer was an Apple IIe;

4- a hardware geek - beta-tester for more than 25 yrs (first beta-gig for Thrustmaster, most significant to date for RIM on the Curve & Bold in the late 2000's);

5- a Falcon 4.0 Flight Leader (should be apparent per #4);

6- a practicing architect of some 20+ yrs (the looks I got in 2012 w/ a 3lb, completely solid-state carbon-fiber laptop dropping Sketchup models into GoogleEarth Pro :)

My X1C-G1 has served so amazingly well that I've been very reluctant to upgrade.  Last year, I poignantly decided that old faithful needs an upgrade for Revit & Lumion.  In the span of less than two days (Black Friday weekend), I bought three of the latest n greatest (i) 2018 X1C-G6, (2) 2019 P1-G2, (iii) 2018 X1E-G1.

I returned them all.

X1C-G6 was amazing, as you'd imagine, alongside it's progenitor, but even with a 10th Gen i7, the 620 GPU wasn't able to keep up.  Both P1-G2 & X1E-G1 were fast, capable, machines, but too heavy and large for EDC.

I finally decided on a X1Y-G3 and LGD, both 2018 builds.  However, this being 2020, I'm somewhat behind the curve, received the 'new' laptop three weeks ago to the day.....and now, we've all found ourselves living in new world, over the preceding two weeks.  On Wednesday night, I managed to find the LGD on eBay, and having done enough research to know it was gonna be a stone-cold b**** to install, I had to pull the trigger b/c we have no idea what the next few months are going to entail.  Of course, but it didn't come with much more than the power-brick.

Having read  this entire thread, and all it's attendant links, I've downloaded the manual, driver & firmware update.  My X1Y has been a champ over the last week, RDP'ng into my office workstation via my Blackberry Key2's hotspot (yeah, you read that right), and working on Revit, CAD, and all the other software a modern-day architect uses. Using an old monitor from my firm (HP ZR2440w) only capable of 1920x1200, and the X1Y's screen at 2560x1440, has been challenging.

So......after a somewhat long intro, I'm going to try and setup the LGD over this weekend, so if anyone has some extra tips, I'd be grateful for them

My thanks
