Re:Lenovo Vantage "Check For Updates" Button Is Grey And Will Not Work

2021-02-17, 17:38 PM

There is a bug in latest version of Lenovo System Interface Foundation (1.1.19.7) which happens for domain users (including Azure AD), the Check For Updates button will be greyed out.  You can work-around this problem by either restarting the System Interface Foundation Service, or else Sleep/Resume the PC should also fix this problem.  Really sorry for this trouble.  We will fix this in the new version of Lenovo System Interface Foundation (1.1.19.8) but I am not sure when this will be released.

My L390 yoga has exact the same issue, the "check for updates" is grey.  I've tried uninstall/reinstall Lenovo vantage and Lenovo Vantager Service, and download and install the new sif11ww198, reboot. But nothing changed, the button is still grey. Any helps?

Please run "services.msc" and then check if System Interface Foundation Service is in the list.  Is the status "Running"?

Next step is to collect logs from System Interface Foundation Service.  Please download and unzip the attached file, double-click on the .reg file to enable logging.  Reboot the computer, reproduce the problem, and then zip up the files in C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\Modern\Logs.  Please attach the .zip file here and we'll take a look.

I'll do that later this afternoon. And could you please tell me how to uninstall that "IMC-debug.reg" after the log collection. Thank you for your quick response and patience.

After you collect the logs, you can disable the logging by applying the attached registry file.
