Lenovo X1 Carbon 2016 - hinges durability test

2019-02-26, 18:27 PM

I am about to buy a second-hand Lenovo X1 Carbon (2016). After a market research I found the following video.

Is this true about the durability of the hinges or it is a commercial trick by DELL?

No this is not a true durability test.  Its also not a true real world usage test.

This is a representation of forcefully pushing a screen past its breaking point.  The Dell screen would also sheer off extreme past its designed opening limit. For example if the "Tester" had attempted to push the screen right back under the keyboard it would also have sheered off.

If a user / purchaser has a reason to take screen past the full 180 degree position they would find the ThinkPad Yoga models much more suited.
