Lenovo X220 Driver Issue - Hang at Shutdown then BSOD

Good morning - This is mostly directed at Lenovo Support Staff, but also to those with a X220 Tablet or similar.

After hours of troubleshooting, I finally found the cause of my Windows 7 Pro Shutdown issue.

The Tablet would hang at Shutdown, then BSOD.  I systematically removed drivers until I found the cause.

The current installed version of the Thinkpad Tablet Button Driver, Version 1.04.0.0 as installed by System Update was the culprit.  As soon as I uninstalled that driver, no more issues.

I have yet to try the driver that is available from Windows Update - if I have a similar issue, I will go ahead and update this post.

Hopefully this will provide some enlightenment to those few who've had to track down a similar issue, and let's hope Lenovo will respond.

*Edit*

I realize this is in the wrong forum.  Can the Moderator please move it to the X-Series Tablet Forum?  Thanks

Re: Lenovo X220 Driver Issue - Hang at Shutdown then BSOD

So after reinstalling the rest of my Lenovo drivers and software, the issue has reappeared. I did not install the Tablet Button driver that caused the issue originally.

I'm wondering now if other Tablet functionality drivers are causing the issue.

Any feedback is welcome.

Re: Lenovo X220 Driver Issue - Hang at Shutdown then BSOD

Hi Nradonich,

Can you please provide us the BSOD files to verify the issue; you can get the dump files from C:\Windows\Minidump folder, which you can post it to any third party link.

Hope to hear back soon!

Best regards,

Hemanth Kumar

Re: Lenovo X220 Driver Issue - Hang at Shutdown then BSOD

Actually, as I found out from the following Thread:  http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-Tablet-ThinkPad-Laptops/X230T-not-shuttung-down-after-BIOS-syst...

That my issue is pretty much a duplicate, wherein the Lenovo PM Device driver provided by System Update was causing the Shutdown 'Hang' then subsequent BSOD.

Once I removed the Lenovo System Update supplied Driver, I replaced it with the version provided by Windows Update and this corrected the issue.

Please see that thread for the most up to date information.

I do not have the BSOD File, as I re-installed Windows after the issue occured.
