Lid close event during shutdown

2008-12-18, 4:15 AM

Hello,

I have an x61s running Windows Vista business (32 bit).

I'd like to be able to close the lid while the system is shutting down.

That is I initiate a shutdown by selecting "shut down" from the Windows Start menu, and then I close the lid of the notebook, without waiting for the sutdown to complete.

Problem is that closing the lid makes the notebook go into sleep mode, even if a shutdown has already been initiated.

Does anyone know how I can avoid this, so that the system will continue to shut down even though the lid is closed in the process? That would be most useful, because when I decide to shut down my computer, I want to close the lid immediately.

However, if I close the lid during regular operation (not in a shut down scenario), then I don't want the system to shut down; In this case the system going to sleep following the lid close event is fine.

I tried setting a "Lid closed action delay" of 2 minutes (in power manager, global power settings, advanced settings for the "lid closed" event), but this does not seem to work, the system still goes to sleep immediately after I close the lid.
