@bourbonado,

Did you get an error that the slice battery is dead in Power Manager or was the computer weren't able to boot at all?

Pressing that little button fixed it for my client too! I'm telling him not to use the slice battery for now, and telling Lenovo not to bother coming to replace anything (they wanted to replace the motherboard). I'll update the Lenovo rep on this forum with the battery details.

Thanks!

Lenovo tech support is now VERY aware of this issue. There is a battery sync issue with the slice, and a firmware update for the slice battery should be released soon to fix it. I'd avoid using the slice battery in the meantime.

JameZ,

I didn't get any error.  The laptop just shutdown without any warning and would not power back on.  After receiving it back from Lenovo support (for which the repair summary said they "Reseated Component & Modified") the laptop and the slice are working.  However yesterday it powered down again without any warning when not plugged in.

I think it is a battery slice issue as this had not been happening before.

@bourbonado,

Hmmm ... sounds like random shutdown to me however what the others was experiencing was after they shutdown the laptop, they are unable to boot it back up? Correct me if I am wrong. For yours one, it could be a plannar or RAM issue.

@CMonteiro,

I was pending for engleron's email on this issue however he has not reverted me on it yet. Appreciate if you can drop me a private message with your email so I can get a case going with engineering on this.

JameZ,

I don't think it was a random shutdown.  I think the laptop ran out of power and then wouldn't power back on (even when plugged in).

@bourbonado,

Try changing it for 8 hours and then do a reset and see if you are able to power the machine back up. Also remove the slice when you charge.

Any updates on this?  I was a "late adopter" of the X-1 - had it for 2 months.. until now it's been great.

Now, however, it is a 3.5lb paperweight.  Left it plugged in for 2 days, now no power, no lights (asides from next to the power connector), no response to 20+ power button pushes, CTRL-ALT-Volume-down...

Sniff-sniff...

Have had no issues with my X1 until it just died similar to others in this post. I tried the rest button (and other more arbitrary button combos suggested) with no effect. Battery of course cannot be removed at home. Any ultimate solution or diagnostic I can do on my own?

Unable to find my own solution, last week I sent the laptop to Lenovo Service Center in Japan (living in Tokyo). They informed that I should expect them to charge at least USD 200 just to diagnose the issue, but I explained I want it fixed, so please go ahead. Now, 7 days later and no news I call them up, and get informed they have not looked at it yet... I guess I am paying for the budget service.
