OneLink+ FW File Not Found Error on X1 Carbon

2016-04-10, 13:41 PM

Bought both of these together (4th Gen X1 Carbon and OneLink+) and am on Win 10 Pro, and I keep getting this error:

[Window Title]
ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock DP Hub FW_ver2_30_000.exe

[Content]
Windows cannot find 'ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock DP Hub FW_ver2_30_000.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

[OK]

The dialog seems to pop up randomly but will occur for certain when using the Companion.

I've tried...

  • Downloading the firmware online
    • Filename is tp_onelinkplus_dock_fw.exe instead though.
    • Running this produces nothing on screen but creates an update.log file with this:
      Version: 0.00.000
      Update result: 255
Error description: Can't connect to Synaptics VMMxxxx DP hub IC
  • Downloading the driver online
    • When trying to install, it says the installed version (1.10.011) was newer than the downloaded file (1.10.10).
  • I've updated everything from the Lenovo Companion system updates, and Windows update.
  • I decided to uninstall the OneLink+ installed drivers and then install the online ones - they installed fine but the error keeps coming back.

Does anyone have any ideas? I searched online for this file and nothing comes up. I even tried renaming the downloaded firmware file to the one it is looking for, but I didn't know what folder to put it in.

I forgot to add: When I first connect the dock I receive an error that the AC Adapter is inadequate and I need 90 W or higher - but it IS a 90W AC adapter, and it runs just fine (the computer runs off it fine too). As far as I can tel, the dock runs fine.

Re: OneLink+ FW File Not Found Error on X1 Carbon

I don't have a solution, but wanted to note that I did just upgrade my Onelink+ dock's FW to 2.30.000 successfully this weekend (while connected to my Yoga 260, not an X1). The FW update for 2.30.000 is named "fwoldp01.exe" on the Yoga 260 support site and was just published there this weekend. I don't see any FW updates for the dock on the X1 support site right now

Note that the Readme file for this update requires you to have a monitor plugged into the Onelink+ dock during the FW update, and requires you to leave the dock/system powered off for >5 seconds during the automated update process.

Sounds like your Companion is checking for updates automatically, seeing that your dock FW is out of date (i.e. not 2.30.000), and throwing up the error message because it can't find the update .exe file it is looking for...

Re: OneLink+ FW File Not Found Error on X1 Carbon

Lenovo is aware of an issue with ThinkPad customers receiving a "ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock DP Hub FW_ver2_30_000.exe" error after running System Update or Lenovo Companion.

Lenovo is working to correct this error condition.

Thank you,

I was able to update after plugging a monitor into the OneLink+ Dock.

Re: OneLink+ FW File Not Found Error on X1 Carbon

Hello

I have an X1 Carbon Gen 3 and when trying to upgrade the firmware (tp_onelink_pro_dock_fw.exe) of my One Link Pro Dock (4X10E52937), it gives me the same error as previously noted above:

Version: 0.00.000

Update result: 255

Error description: Can't connect to Synaptics VMMxxxx DP hub IC

Thanks.

Sorry just read the readme.txt file.  I needed for an external monitor to be connected to the laptop so that the firmware could run.

Any solution yet:

Got the error

Version: 0.00.000
Update result: 255
Error description: Can't connect to Synaptics VMMxxxx DP hub IC

... when installing the firmware.

But don't understand the error.

Best

Christof

I get the same error log after trying to upgrade the OneLink+ Firmware using tp_onelinkplus_dock_fw_v233.exe

In my case the additional issue is that I cannot detect my two monitors anymore via the Dock, so I am caught in a tough spot, given that the firmware update requires a monitor to be connected and active via Dock  (what an intelligent precondition to apply the firmware)

Re: OneLink+ FW File Not Found Error on X1 Carbon

@markwyler I'm experiencing the exact same scenario.

I have no way of updating the firmware because the display ports are not outputing a signal.

My X1 Yoga and Onelink+ dock was working fine for some time, pc went to sleep and when I woke it up there was no display. No amount/combination of power off/reboot/driver update/driver delete and update/cables in and out/bios update/different monitors will work. I'm using quality display port to mini display port cables and have had no previous issues. I'm using the Same cable to connect the displays from my mini display port on the laptop without issue.

Any possible help appreciated.
