PCI-E Lanes on Each Thunderbolt 3 Port of Thinkpad X1 Extreme

Thinkpad X1 Extreme Platform Specifications:

https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad%20X1%20Extreme/ThinkPad_X1_Extreme_Platfo...

On the above link, Lenove states this device only supports 5120X2880@30Hz on DP output of Thunderbolt 3 port, which indicates each Thunderbolt 3 port of this device supports only 2 PCI-E lanes.

But on the other hand, there are some articles claims that X1 Extreme supports 4 PCI-E lanes on each Thunderbolt 3 port.

Which is true?

Betreff: PCI-E Lanes on Each Thunderbolt 3 Port of Thinkpad X1 Extreme

Please look here:

https://www.windowscentral.com/lenovo-thinkpad-p1-vs-thinkpad-x1-extreme

"On the left edge is Lenovo's proprietary charger next to two Thunderbolt 3 ports with 4x lanes of PCIe each for optimal performance."

But if then, why Lenovo claims that only up to 5120X2880@30Hz is supported on the specification? With 4 PCI-E lanes on each port, it should support 5120X2880@60Hz.

PCI-e and DP are carried independently by Thunderbolt 3. Number of (up to 4) PCI-e lanes won’t determine number of (up to 2) DP streams (2x 4 DP lanes).
