All,
There have been reports that when upgrading the Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows 7 to version 6.4.0.1700 is causing a wipe on the main OS drive (commonly C:\)
| Version: | 6.4.0.1700 |
| Release Date: | 2011/05/16 |
Affected units which uses this version of driver are as follows.
Support models ThinkPad L420, L421
ThinkPad L520
ThinkPad T420, T420i, T420s, T420si
ThinkPad T520, T520i
Thinkpad W520
ThinkPad X1
ThinkPad X220, X220i, X220 Tablet, X220i Tablet
ThinkPad Edge E220s
ThinkPad Edge E420, E420s
ThinkPad Edge E520
Issue has been raised to engineering and the team are currently working on it.
****Please do not update the Bluetooth driver until further notice****
We are in a process of pulling the driver off the Support Site and ThinkVantage System Update

Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows 7 6.4.0.1500 22 Mar 2011 (MIGR-76986) has a (less serious) problem in that it installs a Tray Helper app in the Startup folder which always sounds an error beep when started.
I got fed up and reverted back to ThinkPad Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate Software II 6.2.1.1200 01/12/2010 (factory install).
It would be nice if engineering fixed this problem as well. Thanks.

If it is really to happen, i think it is not acceptable !!!
Hope Thinkpad engineering to fully test the applications and drivers before released to public.
Thanks

IIRC, there was a similar issue about a year ago with 6.2.1.1400...... http://www.thinkpads.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&![]()
Re JNAVAS's problem, there is separate thread here about it, and I cannot reproduce his issue on very similary configured X220 system.
Cheers,
Bill

Others are seeing the same problem (e.g., X220, X220T Bluetooth causing DING noise when bootup or resume from standby, X1 with annoying 'ding' on start-up), so even though you say you're not seeing it on a similar (not identical) system, the problem is nonetheless real. There may well be some configuration difference between our systems that makes it happen on mine but not on yours.

All,
Updated drivers have been released to the web team and should be published in the next couple of days.
Will update this thread once they are live - the official solution will be to use the newer drivers.

FYI, ThinkPad Bluetooth 3.0 update just arrived via Windows Update (installed here 8/15/2011).
Driver version is 07/20/2011 6.5.0.1445. Did not reintroduce the startup "ding" problem.

The Windows update didn't fix my dig problem at startup. I still have it if I don't use msconfig to inactivate the startup call to the BBTray.exe

That may be left over from the Lenovo Bluetooth software update -- Windows just updates the driver AFAIK.
Try removing MSCONFIG, deleting the Lenovo Bluetooth software, reverting back to the ding free preload state,
and then letting Windows Update do its thing.

I'll have to try this over the weekend, as I'll want to backup my system prior to doing this.
