<PowerMgr.exe> Module could not be found - X1 Extreme (Gen 1)

2020-07-12, 6:57 AM

Does anyone have a similar issue?

<PowerMgr.exe> 0x0000007E The specified module could not be found.

The issue has occurred after I did a fresh/clean Windows re-installation using "Reset this PC" with "Remove everything" option.

X1 Extreme (Gen 1)

Lenovo Vantage installed with all up-to-date firmware and software

Windows 10 version 2004 (OS Build 19041.329)

Yes, I got this after the latest Windows Insider update (which failed).

To fix this, download https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/downloads/ds541411

Check it applies to your model first though.  Read the README.

I found that when I tried to install it, it told me it was already installed, but it didn't fix the problem.  So, then context-click (usually right-mouse unless you've swapped the mouse buttons round) on the start button and click on Device Manager

In Device Manager, scroll down to System Devices and click the > to open expand the section.  Context-click (right mouse) on Lenovo Power Manager and choose Uninstall Device.  When the window opens up, make sure to tick the box that says Delete the Driver Software for this device, then click ok.

You can look to see that Lenovo Power Manager is gone.

Now you can run the download again.  It should install without error.  Go back into Device Manager and click on Action -> Scan for Hardware Changes.  You can look to see that Lenovo Power Manager re-appears.

Reboot.  The error should be gone.

Hope that helps :-)

Thank you. It is working great now.

After your steps, I've also updated the driver to the newest version by selecting Update driver in the context menu (right-click on the Lenovo Power Manager), then let Windows search for the newest version and install it automatically. The driver from your link is 10.0.115.0 (02/13/2020) and the newest is 10.0.127.0 (05/13/2020).

Again, I appreciate your help!
