Problem with X200S and external display

I have a brand new X200S (windows XP Pro), docking station and an older IBM external display (which I used until now with a X31).

When I start the PC, the external display works first until log-in. AFter log-in the external display becomes black and the power LED stays green, blinking.

If I open the cover of the X200S the image appears on the external display. When I close it it disappears.

Often when I switch off and back on the notebook, the external display becomes black even before I can log-in.

I need to turn on, and off, my PC 4 to 6 times until (for no obvious reason) the external display works properly:

Any idea where is the problem????

Re: Problem with X200S and external display

How do I check the BIOS? Do I need ADMIN rights?

Note that after the 4th or 5th try it does work all day. I am wondering if there is not a problem of current with the Intel Chipset or a cold solder on the motherboard which gets OK with more heat??

Re: Problem with X200S and external display

Do you own the laptop??? Do you not have admin rights to your own laptop??? cold solder problem is not prevalent in the Intel IGP.
