Problems installing a ssd nvme Toshiba OCZ RC100 240 gb at wwan port in X270

Hi ,

I have an x270 with a primary drive nvme samsung 240 gb. I am installing a second ssd nvme Toshiba OCZ Rc 100 240 gb at the free wwan port.  Before installing it I disabled the internal battery at the bios. After restarting the system there is a display error 2102 : detection error on storage device (M.2 *SATA SSD).. After pressing esc, the windows 10 system boot up normally and in the hardware admin at windows I can see the Toshiba rc 100, but I there is no info regarding volume, size...After installing ssd utility software from toshiba, the program fails to see the ssd disk.

I have been in this forum and I read that Toshiba OCZ Rc 100 240 gb can be installed in x270 free wwan slot as a second ssd drive, please can someone help me finding the solution.

Thank you very much

Re: Problems installing a ssd nvme Toshiba OCZ RC100 240 gb at wwan port in X270

Hello and welcome,

I found one thread here on the forums that says the configuration works, but per the base spec that slot supports SATA, not NVMe.  The error message you posted implies that's the problem also.

Some: 128GB M.2 SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, in WWAN slot as 2nd Storage,
mutually exclusive with WWAN and WiGig

You might post a question in the thread asking for more details: BIOS version, etc, to see if you can find a fix.  Otherwise, it appears to be an unsupported configuration and you may need to switch to a SATA SSD.
