Hi all,

Thanks for posting back, after going through some scenarios and reading back through your diagnosis, I have a feeling that this may be caused by the wireless drivers compatibility with Win8. At this point I'm only assuming this would be the case. This being said, I'm going to see if can pull the teams together get them to look at this in a deeper manor. However I will require your assistance by providing some of your details in which I willneed you to PM me the details. The details require can be found below.

Brief description on when and how the wireless issue happens :

I apologise for long detail requirements. I'd just want the teams to test this out in different environments to ensure we looking at this issue correctly and hopefully solve this effectively as possible. If you could PM me the details as soon as possible that would be great. Really looking forward to your PM.

Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

NINE,

I have a different problem with the X1 Carbon.  My machine type is 3444-BBU.  I have a fresh install OS of Win 7 Pro 64bit.

Ever since we have purchased the laptop and installed the latest BIOS and wireless driver updates, we have had problems with the wireless.  The problem starts off by seeing the wireless signal bouncing back and forth over our AP's.  The signal will go down to almost nothing and then after a couple of minutes it will go back to full strength.  It will keep doing this.  Also if the laptop is using battery the machine will lock up and freeze.  I will then need to do a hard shutdown and restart.  this only happens when the machine is on battery.  We have tried to downgrade and upgrade the wireless drivers to no help.  Any insight you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

I seem to have a similar problem with my network connection dropping after every few minutes.  It seems worse when I am playing a video or otherwise using a large bandwidth.  I have a six-month old X1 Carbon Touch 3443 running Windows 8, 64 bit.  What can I do to fix this problem?

Seriously?  Have you even bothered to read anything in this thread?  There are several recommendations.

Hope this helps and please do post your results.

Ok, I wanted to give this at least a week.  For me the drivers are working just fine.  I only had 1 wireless issue over about a 2 week period.   The wireless card disabled  itself and I had to run a repair to fix it even though I had indeed enabled it.  That said, I moved up to the latest Intel.com driver now.  It's probably "just my imagination" but I feel it works even better.  Glad Lenovo finally delivered a driver for this card just 10 months after the X1 Touch was released :)

Hi Bmoy,

Could you try these drivers from the link below,

Please ensure to uninstall the current wireless drivers first only then proceed to install the downloaded drivers above

Do let me know of the results.

Brief description on when and how the wireless issue happens :

When I first got the X1, things were great.   Several months later, I started having the spontaneous disconnect problem, often when operating on battery which lets the computer go into standby a lot.   I started trying things like disallowing the computer to turn power off to the wireless card.  That didn't help.  Then I found NINE's recent recommendation to upgrade the driver.   As I reported here, that broke my wireless completely....in an odd way.   I could see the LAN and connect to it but no Internet access.   To recover, I used the revert to previous driver version, which took me back to the one listed above and, voila, my X1 has been perfect ever since.   I've even re-allowed the power management to the wireless card and it still works just fine.  I can put the X1 to sleep, open it back up again and my connection is restored promptly.

Go figure, NINE.

Scott
