Oregonskater,

When the connection drops, what does it say in the eventviewer?

Click start, type 'Event Viewer', select Event Viewer, click Windows logs, click system

If you can, take screenshots of the errors you are encountering.

(you can check the categories other than 'system' but it would be best to start there first)

Just thought I'd share my experience in hopes it may help someone. After trying a driver upgrade it seemed to be a little better, but still some issues from time to time (yellow exclamation mark on WLAN indicator).  After changing settings linked below it seems to have eliminated the problem completely.  It seemed our Access points at work did not support PSPM so I had to change some settings on http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/cs-006205.htm. We were also experiencing an issue with the centrino card in our x430's and has eliminated the issue also.  My pings were also much better on carbon x1 and x430.

It's been a little over three weeks, and a correction...the other model I was referring to was the E430, not x430.

On the Carbon, I mainly noticed my pings were improving about 20ms to google and from 3ms to 1ms to my gateway, when i turned off PSPM. As far as the signal strength I didnt look at specifics at far as dbm, but it appeared fine in the Windows WLAN indicator before and after the change.

If the issue was PSPM, then wouldnt you still be able to connect to other available access points?

What i see if that in most cases NO ssids are available after a fault has occured. At this point a disable/enable is needed.

if connectivity goes limited, it will still show all available ssids in the area, and a disable/enable will not work to fix the connection, and i find that the card will not re-enable. At this point a reboot is needed, but i found that my system hung during reboot. A 10 second hold on the power button was needed, and after a reboot, a disable and enable was needed to get it going.

This does not sound like PSPM unless PSPM is capable of crashing the wifi driver and system to the point of losing the ability to properly reboot.

Just want to say I'm having this exact same issue.  I have a brand new X1 Carbon that I received 2 weeks ago.  My wireless drops out intermittently - anywhere from minutes apart to hours apart.  I have to reset the wireless adapter in order to connect. My Thinkpad T42p, Thinkpad T410s, and multiple phones/tablets have no such issue.  Please advise.

I'm just using the regular Windows 8 Pro wireless connection program.

I can right click on the wireless icon and select "Troubleshoot problems" which ends up resetting my wireless adapter and then things work again for minutes to hours.  Ultimately it fails though
