Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

2013-03-06, 20:37 PM

I have exactly the same problem on a new Carbon X1 Touch with Windows 8 64.  The Wi Fi drops intermittently and I need to reset the wireless adapter to get a connection.  Wireless N is disabled and power management is set to max performance, but the problem continues.

X1 3460 AQG 1 week old,  Win8 64 bit english, SSD; Intel Centrino wireless:

- same issue here, X1 drops Wifi connection, disabling / enabling wireless device helps until the next Dropout.

- at that time, Win8 may or may not show wireless networks available, they are available anyways.

No Ethernet port on machine...  Wifi is the main Connection.

Lenovo, pls help!!!

PS: on a side note:  a intermittent operation of a Lenovo Bluetooth mouse was fixed by disabling the "Switch off power to save energy" on the Bluetooth device properties.   How about disabling the power management of the  Centrino Wifi device?  Did anyone test this?

Latest drivers installed?

Why don't you try turning off the power management?

I too have this problem with the internet connection dropping intermittently. For me, it's happen about once every two days. I have to put the laptop into airplane mode and then switch it back, and then the connection will be restored.

Using Lenovo X1 Carbon, Windows 8, 64-bit.

What was the established and proper fix for this?

I am still having the intermittent wi-fi drop problem.  It most often can be fixed for a while ( 15 minutes to a couple of hours) by resetting the wireless adapter.

I have an X1 Carbon 3443, Advanced-N 6205 adapter, driver 15.5.6.48, unchecked the box "allow computer to turn off power to adapter".

I also have an old Linksys WRT54G router.  IsthereachancethatusinganewrouteronwirelessNwouldhelp

Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

Hi,

I'm having the exact same issue on my X1 Carbon with Windows 7 (SP1) and I'm following this thread from the last 2 months in the hope that someone will find a 'robust' fix.  I got this laptop in January and started having issues with it from the begining. Had tons of other issues too (screen flickering, power supply issues). Because Wifi issue is random I couldn't get the local support guys to even explain what is required? The support guys just want to know-- which part needs replacement? They've no clue on fixing drivers or diagonising the problem.

Now I finally took the plunge to register and send this email. I think for every person complaning/writing on this forum there must be at least 1000 people or more having the same issue. It is so unprofessional and pathetic on Lenovo's part to linger this issue for so long when the primary method to connect to the internet is Wifi in this laptop model.

Someone rightly pointed above that how could they not 'test' this feature throughly knowing this is the going to be the primary method of connection.

I've done 'power management' fix, update drivers.. so far the issue isn't resolved. Its very random when the connecting will drop and then no matter what I do-reboot, device disable/enable .. it just wouldn't come back up till I go to office the next day use Ethernet LAN (using the dongle) and come back home...

I need a proper fix.

Thanks

Same here.  Bought an X1 Carbon, Win8 64-bit as a x-mas present for my wife.  She's not happy.  Wireless drop constantly,  Power saving is turned off, drivers update from intel sight.  Not much help.  Can't even connecto to 5g of my my Asus router anymore.  All my other computers, TV, gaming systems, iphones and ipads have no problem

Come on, Lenovo, get with the program.  It's not like the X1 Carbon isn't a premium laptop.

Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

It's now about 5 months with the WiFi on my x1 carbon going up and down about once an hour, force me to restart or manually re-activate the network card, thus losing production time as this computer is a working tool!

And still no solution from Lenovo in sight?! And just by browsing this thread it is obvious that there are severe and generic problems with a number of newer Think Pad models.

One thing's for sure - this is an effective way to get rid of longtime customers. I've been using exclusively Think Pads for more than 20 years. Right now in position of three of them. But this ignorant behavior from a supplier calls for change.
