Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

2013-08-03, 21:28 PM
I was having the same issues described in this thread with my machine(3443CTO) and windows 8 and completed both recommended steps (updating firmware and installing Intel Drivers). This fixed the issue with the wireless dropping but now Windows 8 won't recognize that I am connected to the internet even though I can open up a web browser and access web pages.

Outlook 2013 says it is disconnected
Lync 2013 won't log in
Onenote 2013 won't sync pages.
The Windows 8 store says i'm not connected to the internet.
Spotify says i'm online but won't play songs.
My Netflix App won't load.

I have no idea whats going on... Please help.

Has anyone had the issue where the wireless will act up and the entire computer crashes and I have to do a hard restart to get the compute working again.  No blue screen or anything just locks up and crashes to the point where nothing works nothing moves.  X1 Carbon 3444BBU

How do you associate "wireless acting up" to causing a hard lock up? May not be related.

Possible wireless fix.

After some investigatin, we have found that the random wifi dropping can be resolved through...

1. Downloading wireless driver 15.8 from Intel.com/support.

2. Disabling bluetooth radio via task manager.

Seems to fix the problem for me.

Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

we have had a few users go and switch over to the wireless access point in our office and once they do their computers will hard lock up.  No blue screen no nothing.  Just seems as though the wireless is the problem.  Every once in a while when the user unplugs from the docking station and switches to wireless after a few minutes the computer will lock up.  What is so frustrating is that neither my boss or myself can get it to lock up.  I have tried to walk around the office and will not act up.  Then randomly a user will call and say that their computer froze and they had to do a hard restart.

When the problem comes up here are the following that I have noticed:

1.  Everytime it is running on battery

2.  The wireless signal is down to one bar ( even though the wireless access point is in the next room over )

3.  there are no specific programs that are open only the usual like Outlook, internet page...

I have already installed the latest drivers from the Lenovo website

I have installed the 15.8 driver. the consensus seems to be that's a good thing. sadly, I am not sure what disabling the Bluetooth radio in taskmanager means: a) disable the service; b) delete some processes; c) disable the tray icon from the startup. or none of the above?? i'm getting a bit older and can't always follow along. thx, tho.

Is there a replacement card that can be used to replace the flakey 6205?

The Intel 6205 is a very reliable WiFi card - there's nothing flakey about it.
