Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

NB : This mesaage has been moved to the top of thread in order to assist Lenovo with case escalation and case analysis. For all future post please continue posting in this thread.

Machine Type : 3444-BBU
Serial Number :    xxxxx
OS : Windows 7 Pro 64bit
OS type : Fresh Install
BIOS version :  G6ET96WW ( 2.56 )

Wireless Card Type : Intel Centrino N 6205
Wireless Driver version :  15.4.1.1 ( I have tried so many versions of the drivers and they all have the same results. )

Router :  Sonicwall Access Point
Router Firmware Version :

Full Name:  Benny Moy
Phone :  xxxxx
Location : Chicago, IL
Email :  bmoy@xxxxx

Like I said in the post....  users will have their X1 Carbon machine locked when they try to use the wireless here in the office.  No blue screen no nothing just complete freeze and I would have to hard shutdown.  Here is the scenario I have gathered:

Laptop on battery

Wireless signal drops to almost one bar right before it will lock up and freeze.

I got the driver version at 15.1.0.8 and the computer will not lock and freeze but one user has gotten a blue screen twice.

If I turn the wireless radio off then the computer will not lock up.  I haven't tried to update to the latest driver version of 16.1.1.

Please let me know if there is anything you would like for me to try.

thanks

Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

Hi dujenlei,

Have you checked the power settings for the wifi connection in the power manager?

Try putting all of your power setting on the max setting and see if the connection drop at all

Where is the source of your wifi signal placed?

Is it in a separate room or is it centrally located?

Interference plays a key role in fix connectivity

You want to make sure your reception is clear as possible

Are you using a private or public network?

Wifi connection issues occur for various reasons

These question will get us closer to pinpointing a solution

Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

I have the same exact problem. From what I have Googled, many others have the same issue as well and Lenovo does not have a fix. Very frustrating dealing with level 1 tech troubleshooting. I am a reseller of Lenovo products, have about 6 WAPs that work that support insists must be the issue. Give me a break.

We need a fix. This is either a BIOS or driver issue or crappy wifi card.

 X1 Carbon with Multitouch

  1. Wireless LAN continuously drops out requiring removal from device manager and reboot. This used to work for the day, now it is dropping every 15 minutes or so
  2. Lenovo Bluetooth laser mouse always stops working. Found some threads about turning off power management in device manager which I did to at least reduce how often this happens. We'll what happend
  3. Battery life isn’t even close to what they tell you it is supposed to do

Not ready for primetime.

Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

Hi tdemarco,

Are your systems using Intel Centrino?

Have you updated to the latest BIOS, drivers or installed the PROSet Wireless software?

A lot of people have been having success when they start using the PROSet Wireless.

Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

I have an X1 Carbon with a Windows 7 x64 custom corporate image and I have wireless dropping out that only a reboot appears to resolve. It usually takes a few hours to happen.

Re: x1 carbon wireless problem

My Lenovo X1 Carbon shows as "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205".

It came with version 15.1.x.x I think but can't be sure.

Lenovo's latest is "15.02.0000.1258". This did not fix the problem. I don't remember if this showed up as something like 15.2.0.1

I now have 15.3.1.2 direct from Intel using their driver check utility. I downloaded on Saturday. So far it's not dropped out / stalled on me so fingers crossed.
