Screen problem Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd

2021-01-24, 16:30 PM

Hello, some days ago when I started my laptop it showed a purple colored screen. When I close the laptop (hibernation) and open it again, the screen is ok. Does anyone recognize this problem? Thank you for any assistance.

Thanks thnkhckpd,

Unfortunately I'am out of the warranty for 6 months. Maybe I can find a replacement for the screen.

Hello ltv,

Welcome to Lenovo Community

When do yo see the purple screen: Is it before the Lenovo logo/splash screen? How long does it stay in that condition?

Any changes that you've made (hardware/software changes)

Make sure that BIOS and drivers are all up to date, thru the support site.

Update us how it goes

Regards,

Lorenzo_Lenovo

Thanks Lorenzo, It is after the Lenovo logo. It remains in that condition till I close the laptop for hibernation. If I open the laptop again the screen is ok. Bios and drivers are all up to date. I did not change anything. Best regards, Theo

Hi Lorenzo, unfortunately it now also happens with the splash screen and the sleep trick does not always work anymore. On a second monitor everything is ok. All suggestion or hints are welcome! best regards

Your OLED Display is defective.

Google for X1 Yoga Oled.

Basically there's no help if you're our of warranty :(

Support should know this!!!

The OLED displays are discontinued. And if you can get a hold on one you're prone to failure again. No chance unfortunately.

Try an exchange via support for a newer model even if you're out of warranty. Be tough and strong. They know there's no other solution.

I once got my X1Y2 (OLED) swapped for a X1Y3 (500nit IPS)  after the OLED failure. But I insisted heavily.

Good luck!
