Short battery life new Thinkpad x1 carbon 6 gen

2019-10-07, 19:33 PM

I have been purchasing think pads for 20 years (x220 and x1). Bought a fully loaded X1 6th gen based on all-day computing claims. Nowhere close. I followed all of their advice. Gotten the battery replaced and motherboard fixed. Still not even close.

Contacted customer service directly. They are ghosting me now. Horrible.

I am so upset.

Re:Short battery life new Thinkpad x1 carbon 6 gen

I bookmarked this message thread back in Feb 2020. I'm positive there were many more replies at that time, including one of my own. Today I found my bookmark was invalid, but a search for the subject of this thread brought me here. What happened to the original posts? Does Lenovo perhaps remove posts that make them look bad? There used to be advice on how to reset the battery and install better monitoring tools (X-Meter).

I have a Carbon X1 Gen 7. One hour on a video conference consistently drops me from 85% (my max level on charge) to less than 50%. Overnight (15 hours) with lid closed it drops to 43%. 50 minutes of simple web browsing in the morning and I'm down to 29%. This is truly awful. The bottom is warm, not hot, and the fans are not running.

Hi @Glenn_N, You posted in a different thread over here

If I want to reduce the overnight loss due to Windows Modern Standby, I Shut down while holding Shift rather than just closing the lid. This completely powers everything off.

Hope this helps!

USB-C: Just cos it fits don't mean it works.
I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Thanks for the advice and thanks for finding that older thread. My bookmark for it ended in "td-p/4125915", not at all what it shows now. Seems like Lenovo forums just munge those URLs from time to time, making it impossible to track. Nothing shows in my subscriptions or list of replies I have previously made!
