Short battery life new Thinkpad x1 carbon 6 gen

Hi All

Day 2 using new Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6 Gen (HD touchscreen), 8GB RAM. The battery life seems to be about half the 10-14 hours advertised. Alarming. Wondering if it's a manufacture fault or pains reverting back to Windows OS/Lenovo from Apple Macbook Air 11 inch which has 1/3 to double battery life even though it's approaching 4 years old. Or does the battery need to 'warm up' so to speak, i.e. will get better. I keep screen low to medium brightness and sync basic folders. Feeling a bit cheated. Also the 8 GB Ram isn't hot stuff. Regretting not going for the 16 GB. It's a good product but not special. Any views from people?

Same problem, brand new x1 6th with two days of use is giving me 5h33m of battery out of 97% charge with very casual use (e.g. messengers and internet browser). Very alarming as this was one of the key features for this acquisition.

Same with me I get like 6 hours only battery life, its kinda sad tbh cause I got the computer for its super long battery life but it seems just streaming video on it kills the battery. I'm not sure what kind of stops lenovo pulls but its kinda irritating. Other than that this is a great computer

Hi. After a short while the battery life increased. It resolved itself.

Re: Short battery life new Thinkpad x1 carbon 6 gen

Hi, did any one solve the short battery life issue? I have a the 6th X1, bought in April 2018. I am getting roughly 3-4 hours battery runtime (after restart, basically doing nothing) and battery wear is currently 2.1% (not a heavy user, I use it for study only, and that's it). Is this defect? Thanks in advance.

Yeah absolutely! Having hte same issue, I get 3-4 hours max from battery and trying to see if there's any other option I should look into before reaching out to Lenovo for advice.

I have managed to improve the battery life but it is still not near the 12-14 hours that they talk about. I saw that the CPU was being overclocked and on reducing the same the battery life improved. I now get about 6 hours or so from the earlier 3 hours.

Re: Short battery life new Thinkpad x1 carbon 6 gen

Hi All,

I bought a new X1 Carbon 6th gen in August 2018, and now my battery capacity shows at 85.5% (it says that full charge is at 48.8wh while by design it is supposed to be 57wh). Does this sound normal in only a couple months to lose so much of the battery's capacity?

As a side note, it was only lightly used so far, because I was still using my older laptop.

Welcome to the forum. That large reduction in capacity is excessive. I seem to recall that Lenovo's policy is to replace a battery that drops to 80% of design capacity in the first year. I would keep monitoring the drop in capacity and when it gets below 80%, call Lenovo to request a replacement under warranty.

I would call Lenovo about this and request a new battery under warranty. I seem to recall that they
