Yes, I believe it just looks that way in the above images due to the acute angles point of view. When looking at other Kodachi images, for example those which in the meantime disappeared from the Lenovo Flickr library, the keyboard looks as thick and fine as on other Thinkpads too. - However, sooner or later we will know for sure, when we can get our own fingers on one of those new X300 models.

The keyboard is not flat and feels very much like the tablet.  Takes a little lighter touch, I think.

The kb not being flat, I therefore presume you have the 3 cell battery in it?

Re: Sneak Peek - New Lenovo X300 ThinkPad (Picture warning - images included)

NotebookReview.com has a great feature on the X300.

They say that Lenovo has returned to using magnesium, and they say that Lenovo has used it for the exterior of the X300. Is this statement true?

Is the SSD removable?

I would like to buy 17 of these for my office. When does it come out?

How do I find a corporate account manager?

Thanks!

Thanks so much, Bill.

Just an update for this thread, here is Lenovo's official page for the X300.

I am getting really miffed here in Germany Evil or Very Mad  I've spoken to all my reps and not a single one of the #nice people that they are# will accept an order for one. "No not untill it's officially announced"
I know, (according to my little bird),  that in the initial delivery to germany only 50 with UMTS and 150 without are coming - OMG that is not a lot Shocked

Andy, we do live in Germany/Europe and not the USA, I even wonder that 200 units will go to Germany sooner as maybe expected at all. :smileyhappy:

The x300 looks like a very nice, well-rounded system. Only issue I have is with regards to the drives used - SSD (I'm sure these will come into their own at some point), or (possibly)  1.8" drives, which are rather rare and not as performing as their 2.5" counterparts. Other comment would be regarding the width. It seems that there could be a way to trim the sides of the computer a bit to make it that much more comfortable to handle. I've yet to see pictures comparing this to the form factor of a 14.1" 4:3 (standard aspect ratio screen) so difficult to judge.

Anyways, just a couple of thoughts.

The latest generation of bigger 1.8" 120GB and 160GB harddrives do perform quite better and also faster than older ones, even those are of course not as performant as big actual 2.5" harddrives. However, things got a little better here with the latest 1.8" hdds.

Oh, it seems C|Net is also among those who is very fast with offering some sort of review about the Thinkpad X300.
