System Update on X1 Carbon 20FB

Hi,

I've got an X1 Carbon 20FB (4th gen), and noticed it doesn't have Lenovo System Update on it, which I've found useful in the past. So I went to the Lenovo downloads site and found System Update, but it doesn't list the 20FB as one of the X1 Carbons it supports - it only goes up to 20BS, 20BT:

http://support.lenovo.com/se/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-...

(See the "Note for ThinkPad X1 Carbon users")

Should I avoid downloading System Update then? I've not noticed anything that's not functioning, but I figured it makes sense to keep things up to date from a security and features point of view. Why is it not included by default?

Thanks for any advice!

Re: System Update on X1 Carbon 20FB

I found System Update catalogs for your machine type.

https://download.lenovo.com/catalog//20FB_Win10.xml

https://download.lenovo.com/catalog//20FB_Win8.xml

https://download.lenovo.com/catalog//20FB_Win7.xml

System Update supports your machine.  The SU support page DS012808 needs updating.  The readme.txt does not mention X1 carbons.

If your machine was a Lenovo factory ship, and System Update was not preinstalled, Lenovo probably wants you to use the SU plugin found in the Companion app.

Many thanks -- Companion seems to have it, and I guess you are right about the support page just not being updated.
