I have one too. Love the laptop but the mouse pad irks me! I hope the new driver comes out soon enough to sort the flaw.

Well I finally had enough.

The mousepad was just unuseable to me, and now that they have discontinued the X230 (after I just bought one 7 months ago), I doubt there will be any improvements or updates to coming for it.

As much as I loved the computer, the mousepad made it so frustrating I ended up selling it (at a loss), and buying the new Dell Venue Pro 11, which is both an 11" laptop and a tablet, which runs Windows 8.1.  (Not a huge fan of W8, but I'll get used to it.)

The mousepad on that computer works like a charm.

Sorry Lenovo, that was my FIRST and LAST laptop from you!

I am glad to have found this thread eventually. There is a lot of (presumably, unintended) misinformation online, with the reviews staying quiet about the touchpad and folks on fora trying to advise one another to re-install earlier-more recent drivers.

With Ultranav, left button keeps being locked (for lack of a better word), right button works in 90 percent of cases, and it is hard to say if the issues are with hardware or with drivers - probably the former.

By the way, I have had a chance to try a newer hp laptop, whose touchpad looks like one used in x250 and is supported by synaptics software, too, and it is loud and imprecise, which makes me think that perhaps until carbon, which I have not tested, whole generations of thinkpads are equipped with inadequate quality touhchpads.

It looks like the producer of touchpads for most of the laptop brands for a number of years delivered devices that we just no good for serious use.

It is a real shame because the keyboard - apart from the layout has been a step forward starting with x230 - and I say it after years of happily using x200 keyboard for touch typing. The x230 key mechanisms do make typing even more accurate, fast and enjoyable.

End of investigation for me at least. I have yet to think whether I am happy having paid twice the price of x201 for a device that has a serious design flaw.
