ThinkPad Carbon X1 Ver3 2018 - Fingerprint Scanner not working

ThinkPad Carbon X1 Ver3 2018 - Fingerprint Scanner not working

I removed and uninstalled the driver/software... now it does not say it's disabled however it does not work either.  The WBDI Synaptic driver has not reinstalled and no matter what I try nothing tells me to install it again.  Help please!

Look in the BIOS under security/I-O Port access and make sure it is not disabled

Re: ThinkPad Carbon X1 Ver3 2018 - Fingerprint Scanner not working

Well the error is back about fingerprint scanner says it's temporarily unavailable.

When I look in Device manager it now lists the scanner in biometrics and if I go to properties it tells me there is an error:  code 10

the version listed for the WDBI is 5.3.3538.26

Previously, I did try installing the r04fp05w.exe but that didn't help either.  at least not as far as working... it did remove the message but then it wouldn't recognize any activity when setting up a new fingerprint.

Any other ideas?

Thank you.

I have no other ideas.  Maybe someone else has ideas (other than defective fingerprint reader).

Re: ThinkPad Carbon X1 Ver3 2018 - Fingerprint Scanner not working

Well, after fiddling some more and checking the BIOS again... it now says no fingerprint scanner .... so, I started a ticket with Lenovo.  Fortunately, I have a warranty.  Thanks for the suggestions.
