Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2018 edition

I ordered a P51 on March 17th with an estimated 5-7 days to ship.

The original estimate was for March 21st which was then bumped to the 23rd, then the 24th, then the 26th and now is sitting at April 8th.

I've called and they sent an email to the fullfillment team to get a better estimate but I'm seriously considering just canceling at this point unless I hear some good news. I can't afford to wait around for who knows how long when I'm spending three thousand dollars on a laptop. I'd honestly rather make some compromises and pick something up from a local retailer.

Had they told me I could expect to wait a month or more for the thing to ship I never would have ordered it.

EDIT: Looks like it shipped today. Lenovo really needs to work on their shipping estimates.

Some movement: after ordering on March 8, my credit card finally got charged yesterday, March 25. Checking the order status page today there's still no indication that the X1 has shipped though. Smiley Sad

What's a typical delay between Lenovo charging for the device and actually shipping it? FWIW, it's still listed as "Expected to ship" on March 31, which is five days away. So then why the early charge?

Lenovo preauthorize the amount when you first place the order. The actual charge won't occur until they ship the actual item. In my case, the x1 was shipped on 3/21 and charge posted on 3/22. Are you sure they aren't trying preauthorize the amount?

Thanks, no they preauthorized it already when I ordered early March. They shipped it today, so it seems like the time from charging the card to actually getting a shipment notification can be a few days, two days in my case.

ETA is now March 30, three and a half weeks after ordering. Not quite 5-7 business days, but no major disaster. Still pretty bad that they don't update their website to show more realistic shipping times, feels a bit bait-and-switch to me. Anyway, positive thoughts, let's hope this machine as amazing as it seems on paper.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2018 edition

Ordered on March 23, still "In Process" on March 30. Ordered through Digital River (NL)... Not even an estimated shipping date yet.

Edit: Just checked the Lenovo homepage. Seems they have run out of 500 nits WQHD screens. When I customize the X1 and select the 500 nits screen delivery time goes from 7 days to more than 4 weeks. That's going to be a long wait.

Well you are a lucky man. I ordered mine on March 8th, and it finally arrived today March 30, US East Coast. Very nice machine, I just wish it could have gotten here sooner!

@azpekt4120: WQHD HRD screen? If so, I hope you're right.
Too bad the European page doesn't show estimated shipping dates.

Yep, HDR screen with 8550 CPU and 512 gb ssd. Think that goes as CTO, and wait times can be looong.
