Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2018 edition

If you need a laptop asap, don't order a customized X1C G6, buy a pre-configured in-stock one from a reseller - there are many.

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

My shipment keeps getting delayed, and it doesn't seem that Lenovo can do anything about it. They have been very friendly and I appreciate that. But I need a laptop asap. I feel like I'm being forced to looking at other laptops/other brands as alternatives. It is a very hard thing to do as my first choice remains the X1C. Has anyone considered another laptop to the X1C G6, and any brands/models you recommend?

Dell XPS 13. Similar spec but max CPU available is i7-8550U. No LTE. Slightly cheaper.

Yeah, don't get a customized Lenovo if you need one asap. If it wasn't for the LTE I'd be going with a Razer blade stealth. I 7 8550u, 16gb ddr4, 512gb nvme m.2, dual fans for good cooling. But no one that I can find other than lenoLe has an Ultrabook with decent specs and lte.

If it's for work, don't get Razer. Firstly I'm unprofessional and second but most importantly you'll want a brand where they can go to your site to repair it the next day because every day's downtime at your work place is very costly. If Razer expects you to post it back for repairs etc, your downtime will quickly exceed the cost of a few laptops.

The Lenovo I ordered wasn't customized at all. Yes. The XPS13 looks good. Checking it out.

That's weird. I know people who bought preconfigured x1c6s over memorial day weekend that were shipped within a week.

Cool. Just note that it's an inch smaller and is slightly heavier. It also hasn't got any USB-A ports I believe. Also note that Dell has switched to the smaller Noble lock as the good old Kensington lock slot is too large for such thin laptops.

Bought it on the 27th of May - first delivery was scheduled for the 12th and then got moved to 18th and then now it got moved again to the 26th of June. That's a month for a pre-configured laptop.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2018 edition

Honestly, I've gotta say that I've bought laptops from pre-dell Alienware, Dell, Toshiba, and IBM and I've never  seen anything like this logistically and customer service wise. Overall it has been a huge disappointment but Lenovo has the superior product and it's exactly what I'm looking for (aside from the fake HDR screen) so I'm going to stick with them and wait it out a while longer before I pull the plug and go elsewhere.

My advice: Wait for it. It'll probably ship soon (refer to my previous post).
