Well glad someone said it. I didn't want to call to cancel but this is exactly how I would have liked to cancel it.

BTW they have since removed the ability to cancel online in the last week... I wonder why.

Yeah, I didnt want to cancel either, but it really came down to trust.  If they are going to lie to us about delivery dates, to get us to order, then how do I know they will provide "Premium Support", in a timely fashion when I really need it?

Imagine having your Laptop die, and you needing for your business and impotant personal things accessible, and they pull the moving date game, like they have on the purchases. You'd be so screwed.  I can't and won't risk it.

Good for you. I got my yoga x1 4th gen, and felt the same way it was just bait and switch, they gave me run around until it finally shipped. I am just hoping that I don't run into issues with the computer, as based on my and others experience, I know I couldn't count on the Lenovo support to act quickly, or at all. worth noting, I am overall satisfied with the quality of the laptop, it is just that dealing with their support left bad taste.

That sucks.  Mine was ordered the same day, also showed same dates of Aug 12 and Aug 26 but it never showed October. Wonder what the difference would be (lets hope it's not because you got a different size SSD than me).  I'm supposed to get my computer today.

i5, 16GB, 256 SSD, UHD screen, Windows 10 Pro

@shaners et al:

shouldn't we distinguish between preconfigured models/orders versus customized orders?

i am thinking that the preconfigured models might ship out much more quickly than the customized orders.

i ordered on Aug 1st a customized order for:  UHD, 16gb, 1TB, WWAN Fibocom 850, and during the order process, it was 4-5 weeks.  Immediately when the Order Visibility page was populated (roughly 24 hours later), the delivery date was October 16th.

Bait and switch tactic.  Awful business practice.  What a shame.

That's interesting. I've had a different experience (so far).

Ordered Aug 17 via Lenovo.com. Ship to USA. Custom config: i7, 16GB, 256GB, UHD. Checkout shipping est. 4-5 weeks.

Immediately on Order Visibility Portal:

  • Ordered: Aug 17 / Exp. Ship: Aug 27 / Exp. Arrive: Sep 4

Dates have yet to change - still expecting them to after hearing everyone here. Fingers crossed.

Well, I spoke too soon. Just checked again:

  • Ordered: Aug 17 / Exp. Ship: Sep 16 / Exp. Arrive: Sep 23

That would put Order to Ship at just over 4 weeks. Not thrilled, but within the 4-5 weeks originally estimated.

I have a Dell XPS 13 arriving tomorrow that I had planned on not even opening and just returning after I fell in love with the X1C7. Only thing different spec wise is FHD vs the UHD on the X1C7. I guess I'll give it a test run and see how I like it. Was really looking forward to the UHD screen on the X1C7, but I'm not going to wait forever.

Just out of curiosity. How long it took to ship XPS 13 after placing the order?

Shipped same day lol. i7 8565U, 16gb, 256gb, FHD matte

Thought it'd be worth sharing, I did receive the XPS 13 - it's wonderful. Did have a build quality issue - doesn't sit completely flat (maybe a little warped?). I hit up Dell chat - they are overnighting me a replacement, no questions asked. Never had good CS exepereince with Dell in the past, but this was phenominal.

Cancelled the X1C7 order immedately after that.

Good luck to y'all! I really wanted that X1C7, but I'm very happy with the XPS 13, and I actually have a laptop opposed to a moving target for a ship date.

That's what you would expect in today's day and age. There appear to be someone underlying issues within Lenovo coroporation. For me delivery of four weeks for a stock may not be a deal breaker, but the way they handled it and constant change of the shipping day, and their support stopping to respond as they didn't have idea when it will ship is a deal breaker.

Friend of mine also order a laptopr from them, his was three weeks delivery, in his case issue was that someone printed a shipping label but forgot to apply it for two weeks?!

I hope things improve as the product is generally good quality, but if this continues I would be hard pressed to buy the next computer from Lenovo. Someone here mentioned that they removed option of canceling orders online, and you have to call in. I wouldn't be suprised that they are getting large number of cancellations these days.

I finally decided I cannot and will not support these tactics. I dont like to be misled and therefore I cancelled my order. Sorry Lenovo, not this time.....

Not an audiophile but I am very impressed with these speakers.  Listening to some Dolby clips have been amazing on this computer (X1 Yoga Gen 4).  I listened to a clip with the computer speakers and then the same clip with my headphones (Surface Headphones) and I thought the computer speakers had so much of a nicer sound.  I could actually feel the sounds versus my headphones just made it sound really good if that makes sense.

And a counter argument for the people who are not happy with Lenovo.  I can understand ordering a computer and the excitement of it coming and then not in an expected window of time, but I think you are over doing it a little.  I'm glad they are having shipping delays because that means a lot of people want this computer and they should keep it up-to-date and pay extra attention to it and the feedback. And Dell would have had my business if they could have come to market a couple of weeks sooner with the XPS 13 2-in-1 (yes, Intel might be to blame) but them not coming thru, just like you are saying about Lenovo seems to be close to the same thing.

If all they way thoughout the order process, I get a 2 week delivery data, I rely on that date. If Lenovo postpones delivery by 2 months (I certainly wouldn't mind 1-2 weeks, but move the data from August to October...) mere hours after I placed my order, I call that a scam. And I will not support that with my hard earned money.

@drjochen:

like you, my order (placed on August 1st) said 4-5 weeks and immediately, 24 hours after order placement date, the delivery date was changed to October 16th.  yes, October 16th!   that's 11 weeks versus the initially communicated 4-5 weeks when we were placing our order!

that is indeed a bait and switch tactic.  show them "A" when they are placing the order in order to get them to buy buy buy, then, after they committed, then show them "B".

it's the classic "when you're a prospect, you're in heaven.  when you're a customer, you're in hell".
