Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

So I am new here, Finally bit the bullet and ordered an X1 Extreme after nearly 8 years of other brands.

Question is, will it be worth the wait?

My ship date just jumped another 16 days..... It was March 1st.

Anyone else see a 2week plus bump out? I know they just got done with a big sale, but really?

 Ordered
February 20, 2019

Update, so the OVP system just doesn't make sense. I got an email today saying shipped out of North Carolina, with tracking number, my original March 1st estimate.

I ordered an X1E on 7th March. The product page said it ships in 7 business days, as did my order confirmation. In my account it says the computer is 'in manufacture'. It will be interesting to see if it does indeed ship within the 7 day quoted timescale (it is a customized order). I'm in the UK.

Incidentally I ordered an L390Y on 18th February, that also said 'ships in 7 business days' but the expected shipping date has been moved to 25th March (due to a panel shortage, apparently).

This is a warrenty replacement for a X1 Yoga Gen2 OLED, which had a broken hinge causing parts to break that are no longer available.

(That's another topic, but REALLY? No parts available on an 18 month old laptop?)

I'm going to miss that OLED. A great screen.

So this is what's being shipped:

Part Number : 20LDCTO1WW

Quantity : 1

Unshipped Quantity : 1

Ordered
March 13, 2019

Expected to Ship
March 22, 2019

Expected to Arrive
March 28, 2019

That's a long time.  Is this normal?

For some reason the system wouldn't let me sign in (I was LindsayD) so I'm now LindsayD19.

I ordered my customized X1E on 7th March, the ordering system said 'shipping within 7 business days'. I've just had an email from Lenovo telling me production of my machine has been delayed and they are unable to give me an estimated shipping date at this time.

No movement on the L390Y I ordered on 18th February - expected to ship at the end of March.

The shipping time estimates shown on the ordering pages seem optimistic to say the least!

Delays, delays, delays.  Holy cow Lenovo is awful with its fulfilment.  The 30th is a best guess not a commitment.  How can people put up with this garbage?

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

2019-03-20, 14:15 PM

I originally placed my order on 3/10, but cancelled it due to changing my mind about the configuration. I got the cancellation order saying the balance would be removed. I placed another order on 3/11. Though I haven't been waiting as long as some of you, I am completely annoyed at how their system works.

  • Expected to ship was 3/14. I knew that wasn't going to be the case, but I was hopeful anyway. On 3/14, expected to ship changed to 3/15. On 3/15, expected to ship changed to 3/16. This continues on, and now it says the expected to ship is 3/20 (it will change to 3/21 tomorrow). This means I have absolutely no visibility into the actual status of my order and I have no idea when it will ship.
  • I would be ok with it if the order said "Expected to ship by 04/01" and then updated whenever it could, but instead it lies to me everyday. I called customer service twice now (once two days ago and once today) and they kept promising that it'll ship by "tomorrow"
  • They never removed the hold on my card for the original cancelled order, and then put a 2nd hold on my card for today. I asked about it and they claimed that "holds expire in 7 days so we try it again every 7 days" - which is false to me because I have 2 holds from 3/10 and 3/11, and now a 3rd duplicated one on 3/20.
  • This means lenovo is holding $4800 on my card, and now I have -$1000 available balance and the card is completely unusable. Im expectin another $1500 to be added on there every week until the order is fulfilled, which at this point is completely unknown.

This is my first time purchasing from Lenovo and it has been one of my worst shopping experiences to date. I feel bad for those who had to wait 30+ days for their product, that's just ridiculous. I've had ebay orders built and shipped from China arrive faster and with more accurate information.

Current expected to ship: 03/20
What my actual expectations are: I'll end up cancelling this order by the end next week and never trust lenovo products again.
