Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

Exactly the same just happened to me. Ordered 8/5. During order, it showed ship date of 8/12. Once I placed the order, it immediately changed to 8/28. Now it shows 10/24........

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

This happened to me as well.

Estimated shipping time is ultimo october. Personally it makes the x1 carbon a complete no-buy for me. It's really unfortunate and I was really looking forward to upgrading to the new x1 carbon, but lenovo forced my hand with the shipping estimate.

I called the costumer service, and was told the delays were "probably" due to something in the supply chain not being able to keep up. She couldn't tell though, so it was purely speculation. However, in my opinion, It seems pretty clear that it's the production of the 4k display that cannot keep up.

Maybe I have missed it, but has lenovo addressed this problem? 2-3 months before a laptop even ships is almost unheard of in comparable cases.

As a sidenote... the new in intel chips will be out a month before this laptop ships...

We are sure it's the display. What sucks is that they cannot be upfront but apply the bait tactics.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

These stories about Lenovo moving the shipping dates back after ordering, are disturbing.  I used to buy only Lenovo before i moved to Apple.  Apple has taken a bad turn so i figured i would go back to Lenovo. But if they delay my x1 extreme order, i will immediately cancel my order and get the same spec Dell xps 15, for less money.  I need a laptop "now", not "someday ".  I am rooting for Lenovo to come through but these stories made me get a backup plan ready.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

Is the display the same as in the X1 Yoga?  I got the 4K screen on my Yoga, so curious if it is the part of the reason or not, as my computer seems to be making an expected amount of shipping time, especially since it was a custom build.

I ordered on 8/5 and status showed arriving on 8/27.

Few days later, it was shipped and changed to arriving on 8/20.

Currently mine is in Louisville on 8/18 and now arrival time is 8/22.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

The yoga and carbon do not share the same panel which is why yours wasn't affected.

Mine however... I just canceled my custom configuration that was expected to take over two months to ship. I went with th 400 nit FHD instead. I'll get it sooner and I'll be investing less in this company I was recently really excited to support. I hope lenovo is paying close attention to what's going on here. People like to be taken seriously and if  you can't give a straight answer nobody will want to do business with you.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

Just joined the communicty due to a wifi concern I have on my X1C 7th Gen I just got... saw this thread and thought I would supply my order / ship / arrival times:

i5 - 8265u

16gb

4K UHD

256gb

Ordered Aug 4th

Shipped Aug 9th FROM Hefei, CN

Arrived Aug 15th DELIVERED: Michigan, USA

So shipping time was excellent, but I'm already having the issue where the WiFi speeds drop after sleeping the laptop. The screen is extremely nice, but it would be nice to have better battery life... since I mostly just use it as a couch surfer with a charger sitting there, I opted for the nice screen. The scaling has been better in Windows than it has been in other times I've tried it.
