Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

I wanted the extra 2MB cache. Also did not want VPRO so i7-8565U was the next good choice for the money. CPU benchmark ranks the i7 37 places higher than the i5.

My concern with this setup is the battery life due to the screen. Hoping that between 16GB of RAM and the i7 she will be good to power two 4K monitors without any hiccups.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

Thanks, why did you decide on the UHD screen?
Did the glare / reflections not concern you on the non matte screen or the 4K resolution on such a small 14" screen?

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

Primary reason for 4K screen was the brightness level at ~500 nits. My current mobile device is an X220, the screen is not bright enough. I don't buy laptops often, so I wanted to make sure I got a superb screen. I will also use the device for notetaking, presentations, document signing (among other things). The 4K screen should have the "wow" factor that I am looking for.

Matte screens still have issues with large amounts of direct light, though not as bad as glossy. Glossy screens are great because they are easily cleaned after a client gets their fingerprints on it. Matte screens are slightly more cumbersome to clean in my experience.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

Has anyone on this forum received a new X1Y4 (regardless of build)?

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

I ordered a 20QD001VUS this morning at 11:03am and did it mostly because the site says "Ships same business day if ordered by 2PM ET" thinking it would ship today and I'd get it tomorrow (I called and a sales person told me they ship from NC so im guessing it's from Raleigh area an hour away from me).  My order details page even says:

Est. Ship DayShips same business day if ordered by 2PM ET

but when I click on the View Order Status link to opens the order visibility portal it says:

Ordered
July 16, 2019

Expected to Ship
July 19, 2019

Expected to Arrive
July 23, 2019

Has anyone had experience lately with one that says its supposed to ship the same day and why would they advertise and entice people with that if it's not true?

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

lex_rex, I didn't realize you purchased the Yoga, the specs are almost exactly the same as the X1 Carbon 7th gen.

I decided to cancel my order and reorder today to change the processor from the 8265U to the 8565U, it seems to be worth it for $127 extra. You may get around 10% improvement in speed for a $5% increase in price.

Lucky the kept the shipping estimates dates the same.

From reading many of the shipment posts it seems that Lenovo gives you an early estimate but then usually ships later. It makes sense they would do this because they want your business and if they gave you an accurate shipment date you may look elsewhere.

My expected ship date is July 26th with an August 2nd delivery. I would be extremly surprised if I received it by August 2nd. Expecting mine to be delayed until end of August.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

Just got an email from Digitalriver (UK) that my order is further delayed and now estimated shipping date is the 31st of July.

I've ordered the 4K X1C7 on the 1st of July it was postponed to the 17th, now to the 31st...

Same here - 4K model, shipping is now July 31st. Not that I can find any sign of the original shipping/delivery on the online order.

Haha, no, digitalriver has a useless website. What angers me tho is about a week ago the webshop says the lead time on the 4k model is 2 weeks. Now a week later I got this email about the delay, even tho I've ordered 2 weeks ago.

Re: ThinkPad X series shipping thread - 2019 edition

Update: Just send an email in to my lenovo rep asked to remove the 4K screen and go with the 380nit FHD screen.

On the thinkpad sub-reddit I am seeing two users reporting delivery of X1 Carbon 7th gen today w/ 4K screen and they are reporting very bad things about the battery life.
