I've already tried the physical uninstall and reinstall of the wwan card. I
thought it had fixed it for a couple days but then it started adding more
adapters. I can't figure out what changed to make it do that again.

I've just reset the computer again so it looks correct: only one adapter.
When it starts adding them again, I will look at the system event logs as
you suggest.
