ThinkPad X1 Carbon scrolling not working

Hello,

I just received my new ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Type 20A7). This is running with Windows 7, 64 bits.

Scrolling from the touchpad (with one or two fingers) does not work.

I tried installing the latest drivers from Lenovo's website (although you would assume that the latest drivers are installed when you buy a new machine), but that did not help.

When I go to the control panel and to the advanced settings for the touchpad, I can see that the scrolling features are activated. They just don't work.

Sometimes, I notice that after startup, scrolling works for a couple minutes, then not anymore.

Could you please help me out?

Thank you,

Cheers.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon scrolling not working

I executed these files from Lenovo's website:

grgy03ww_64.exe : firmware update of the touchpad. Seemed to execute fine.

n10gx25w.exe : told me that I already had a better version of the drivers

6hgx81ww.exe : executed, then said this failed: Synaptic SmbDrv System 16.2.19.14: installation failed.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon scrolling not working

After rebooting, scrolling now works. If I do not post here again, it is that it still works ^^.

OK, here you go: a few minutes after booting, scrolling with two fingers does not work anymore. Any help?

Thanks!

Thanks.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon scrolling not working

Hi realkirua, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!

Remember that this is users helping users here, moderated by volunteers like me. Although there is some Lenovo presence, they can't patrol the entire community. They do try to help with some of the broader issues.

The odd part about what you describe is that the UltraNav driver install fails (6hgx81ww.exe). Have you tried manually uninstalling the old one (Control Panel>Programs and Features) then runnning the installer again?

I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon scrolling not working

Thank you very much for your input, bananaman!

So, I uninstalled the drivers and executed n10gx25w.exe (for which I had to accept a non valid certificate).

It executed fine. I will reboot and let you know how things go.

PS: formerly, I reported that 6hgx81ww failed; but that was a mistake: it was indeed n10gx25w that failed.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Carbon scrolling not working

Just noticed it stopped working again ... I haven't been doing anything special with my computer since then (just reading and writing some stuff). :/
