ThinkPad X1 Extreme locks up

My new X1 Extreme hangs every few days. It locks up HARD, so that the only way to restart is to hold the power button down until it turns off.

I've updated all the drivers, but one:

The U630 Intel video driver will not install. It complains that it can't install on this operating system (Windows 10).

Has anyone else had this problem & found a solution? (more concerned about the lock-ups than the Intel driver)

I also updated the BIOS recently, but that didn't help.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Extreme locks up

A bad driver could cause lockups.  Look in the event log and see if anything is throwing an error message.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Extreme locks up

Ah, very good suggestion.

I did determine that I restarted at 20:46, which was in the critical notifications of the Event Viewer.

It also indicates that this has happened 5 times since 21-Dec.

It seems the issue is with:

Re: ThinkPad X1 Extreme locks up

My situation hasn't gotten any better & appears to be getting worse.

Last night the machine crashed. I couldn't get it to wake this morning, even with the power button.

Finally had to do the hard power down & restart.

Just a bit ago it had a BSOD when I tried to wake it after having my dinner.

It rebooted twice, saying it was collecting data.

I thought for sure I'd be able to see something in the log this time, but no.

It shows an entry for when I shut off the bluetooth mouse & bluetooth keyboard at 18:28 & the next entry is for when it was booting up at 18:53.

In the meantime it crashed & had two BSOD.

On the first boot after the crash it didn't even allow me to login before crashing to BSOD again & restarting.

It seems fine now, I'm beginning to think I might need a warrantee replacement.

I should add that I ran the System File Checker yesterday & everything checked out.
