ThinkPad X1 Extreme suffering from crackling sounds

On top of the audio popping I am receiving while having headphones plugged into the X1E, I am now getting crackling noises from the speakers when I play any sounds. Changing to the Windows' audio driver fixes the crackling noise, but the sound is lower and less defined.

Edit: Turning off Spatial Sound for Dolby Atmos Headphones seems to solve cracking problems (with and without headphones) without having to change the Realtek drivers. I'm not sure what's up with Dolby Atmos.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Extreme suffering from crackling sounds

As an update to this, going to sound and turning off Spatial Sound (Dolby Atmos for Headphones) removes the crackling noise while retaining the Realtek driver sound when just listening to music through speakers.

I am not sure why that's interfering with anything when I don't have headphones plugged in. I'm still doing tests.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Extreme suffering from crackling sounds

Awesome thanks! I had the same issue that now seems to be resolved by turning off Atmos, thought this was some type of powersupply noise issue related to coil whine or something...
