ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd / X1 Yoga battery wear

After 6 months of use, the battery wear is 18% in my new ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd / X1 Yoga.

I tried to reach lenovo service, but it's an endless lop of passwords and register

Any similar experiences o recommendations?

Re: ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd / X1 Yoga battery wear

Hi. After 5 months of heavy usage, my X1 Yoga 2nd gen battery wear is at 2.3% with 124 cycle counts...

Have you limited the charge in order to avoid having it charged 100% all the time?

Re: ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd / X1 Yoga battery wear

My X1 Yoga (1st Gen) has lost between 18% to 30% of base capacity over the course of 12 month.

I am a bit puzzled that battery report suddly shows a reversed trend over the last couple of days.

In my personal opinion a loss of up to 30% of base capacity is a bit steep over just a year for a unit with that price tag.

That's very different from my battery. Though I also have reverse trends...

Re: ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd / X1 Yoga battery wear

I have my X1 Yoga 2nd since 4month and after 80 cycles wear level is 22%.
That must be a bug.... I hope. Perhaps some driver is automatically reducing the charge limit so the battery lives longer?

@pacok

What is the charge cycle count of your battery?

@all

Are you gathering these stats in Lenovo Vantage -> Hardware Status -> Power Status?

My X1YG1 that is about 1.5 years old and rarely used is @  27 charge cycles and design capacity and full capacity are essentially the same.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd / X1 Yoga battery wear

I used the Windows Battery Report.

A copy is attached to my last post, if I am not mistaken.

Unfortunately it does not show the cycles.

But now as 18.03.2018 the capacity is down to 37 mWh.

I also have horizontal hairfractures above the hinges on the backside of the display lid.

First I thought those were scratches, they developed slowy over the last couple of months.
But today one of them over the left hinge broke Smiley Sad

And the display has started to show more and more very faint white spots over the last six months.
Aaaand the trackpoint has become nearly unresponsive about 2 month ago.

Well I still have next Business-Day On-Site  till early 2019.
Lets see how that ticket with the German support goes.

It would be a mild unterstatement to say that I am disappointed with the quality of this machine.

Re: ThinkPad X1 Yoga 2nd / X1 Yoga battery wear

My X1C5 is 9.5 months old and has 53,390 mWh (-6.3% below design capacity) after 70 cycle count. Mostly it's been at "at stop charging at 90% or 95%" unless I'm travelling a lot.

I hadn't known about this handy battery report before (powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery_report.html") so thanks for the pointer.
