ThinkPad X1 Yoga - NVMe firmware update fails

2017-02-09, 9:16 AM

My X1 Yoga has a SAMSUNG MZVPV256 SSD

Tried to install the NVMe firmware update from here: http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-X-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-X1-Yoga-Type-20FQ-20FR/downloads/DS119265

It boots Linux however at some point it can't find the folder.

When Windows started again, it ran FWLINBRDG automatically. This one shows the following error:

I had some problems too, these have worked for me - see if they work for you:

- Use BitLocker? If so sadly you'll need to decrypt and re-encrypt. (strange as its keys are not managed by BitLocker but I guess it does not copy the files to the unencrypted boot partition)

- Use Secure Boot? If so temporarity disable it and then re-enable after update.

After disabling both the update worked for me. Good to see a SM951 update, better late than never, eh?
