ThinkPad X131e 3371-AL2 (AMD E-300) - Bios Update Fails

2020-06-26, 2:21 AM
Ok I’m still running the original Bios - version 1.05 and Embedded Controller version 1.01 I’m running Win 10 Home 64 bit. At lenovo.com support page I enter my s/n and it correctly identifies my model as 3371, I click the Drivers & Software link & download both - the Win app for Bios update (g8uj35us.exe), and the CD ISO (g8uj35us.iso). When I run the app, it puts the files in c:\drivers\flash\g8uj33us, then when I do Install Now, Update ThinkPad BIOS, I get the error “BIOS Directory cannot be found. The utility process has not completed.” When I run “winuptp.exe -s” - per the manual install instructions in the .txt file I get the same error. It doesn’t indicate what dir it’s looking for... So I burned the ISO to CD, boot off of it, take option 2 “Update System Program” I get the error “The system program file was not found on the CD. Insert the correct CD in the drive.” Anyone else run into this? Lenovo, any ideas on how to get my BIOS updated? Thx

Hello,

At the bottom of the https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x131e/3371/downloads/ds029771-bios-update-utility-bootable-cd-for-windows-10-64-bit-81-32-bit-64-bit-8-32-bit-64-bit-7-32-bit-64-bit-xp-thinkpad-x131e page is a list of older BIOS versions.

Try updating the BIOS from version 1.05 to 1.08.  If that works, proceed to version 2.05 and so forth until you are able to install version 3.01.
