ThinkPad X200 - Blue screen of death on sleep mode

2008-10-01, 13:45 PM

I put my new ThinkPad X200 in sleep mode.  Then closed it.

In 10 to 15 minutes, it will beep, and when I open the case, it offers to re-login me in.

When I relogin in, I get an error " Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown.

The problem details is BlueScreen

Thoughts on how to resolve?

Thank you.

. Is it XP or VISTA? (I guess VISTA... )

If it is VISTA, some drivers are not design for new sleep mode in VISTA and make the computer wake up after a few minutes, try to update all your drivers if you have installed any new hardware (on the blue screen, look if you see something like DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE)

If no update is available. try to uninstall the driver and see if the problem is solved.

. do you use ZoneAlarm?

(or another security suite...)

If yes, try disabling it, it's known to create issues with VISTA during sleep...

Update to the latest version.

. any entry in the application/system log files that would match the time of the crash?

... good luck
