If it is the wrong size (too big), you need an adapter from the wireless carrier.

You're trying to put the nano-SIM card in the microSD slot. The nano-SIM slot is #2 in this drawing from the HMM. The other slot is the microSD slot.

Hi TinX280! Perhaps this will help:
You're in one of two situations:
In the case of #1, please use your warranty and call Lenovo, and they will happly exchange the MicroSD tray for a MicroSD/SIM tray.
In the case of #2, you have a project to complete, since to add mobile broadband to an X280 requires retrofitting the MicroSD/SIM tray, the WWAN card, and the WWAN antennas. I'm not aware of anyone who has done this yet.
If you are not sure whether your X280 has the mobile broadband/WWAN option, post the model number here and we will most likely be able to tell you whether it is present.
